Giants news, 11/20: TE coach Kevin M. Gilbride dishes on Tye, Cunningham

New York Giants headlines for Friday, 11/20.

Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are some headlines to follow at the start of your weekend.

Will Tye and Jerome Cunningham stepping into big roles

After Larry Donnell and Daniel Fells each went down with injuries, the Giants have been left thin at the position with two young players filling in. Tight ends coach Kevin M. Gilbride spoke this week about the two backups stepping into more important roles on the team.

"The good thing about those two guys is they really listen to coaching, they take coaching and then they put it into action in the games," said Gilbride. "It's evident on the film."

Gilbride said that while they have "a couple of missed opportunities" to make plays down the field, but to each Tye and Cunningham's credit, each has made plays at times and has been able to be a force blocking in the run game.

"Jerome is the more consistent run blocker... Will is inconsistent but when he does it right, he really moves defenders, which is good," Gilbride said.
