EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants center Weston Richburg was helped off the field late in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. Richburg was unable to put weight on his left leg when taken off. Richburg was seen in the locker room following the Giants' 27-26 loss with a walking boot on his left foot.
With Richburg out, veteran Dallas Reynolds took over at center. With Justin Pugh inactive due to an illness, the only remaining backup lineman for the Giants if Richburg is unable to return would be rookie Bobby Hart.
Richburg was carted from the sideline to the locker room. Richburg has been declared out for the remainder of the game with an ankle injury.
The Giants can ill afford to lose Richburg for an extended period of time. They will not have Will Beatty (rotator cuff) for the remainder of the season, and without the second-year center they would be perilously thin on the offensive line.
