The question coming into the New York Giants week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints was "Which Giants team will show up?"
Well, the answer has apparently been "The one that doesn't play defense."
The Giant have been gashed for yards through the air by an incredibly quick and efficient Drew Brees. The loss of Jon Beason looms large as communication issues have lead to repeatedly blown coverages as the Giants try to adapt to Sean Payton's aggressive and unconventional play calling.
Though the Giants have only given up 30 rushing yards on 11 carries (2.7 yards per carry), Drew Brees is 19 of 21 for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Despite the defense apparently opting to stay in New Jersey, the offense came to play, with Eli Manning going 18 of 21 for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. Shane Vereen has been the Giants leading receiver with 48 yards on 6 catches and a touchdown, while Odell Beckham Jr has made 5 grabs for 32 yards and 2 TDs. Fellow LSU alum Rueben Randle has 48 yards on 5 receptions.
The Saints lost running back Khiry Robinson for the season with a "significant leg injury", while the Giants have lost Dwayne Harris with a sprained ankle and knee, and Larry Donnell with a neck injury.
After scoring to close out the half, the Giants get the ball to start the second half.
