When the New York Giants released Steve Weatherford, it seemed like just a matter of time before he found work again. As it turns out, the fan favorite didn't have to look far.
A report came out Saturday afternoon that after a leg injury to punter Ryan Quigley, the New York Jets would be signing Steve Weatherford for their game against the New England Patriots.
The #Jets are signing P Steve Weatherford, per me and @KimJonesSports. They had a punter injury this week.

Despite being a favorite of both the coaching staff and fan base, Weatherford's declining leg strength and directional punting forced the Giants to move on before the 2015 season. Weatherford was released as a part of the final cut down after preseason and replaced by Brad Wing, the second year punter out of LSU, who was acquired in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While some Giants fans may find it difficult to root for the Jets, I don't think any Giants fan would have a problem rooting for Weatherford against the Patriots.
