Zack Bowman was a late free-agent signing by the New York Giants prior to the 2014 season, brought in to provide veteran depth and to help the Giants special teams coverage units.
Bowman, a 30-year-old seven-year veteran, was pretty much as advertised. A quality special teamer, specifically in punt coverage, and a guy who can play adequately when called upon at cornerback. Bowman can occasionally make a play on the ball, but doesn't really want to stick his nose in and play the run. That was evidenced by these two plays against the Seattle Seahawks.
Valentine's View: Keep Bowman. I am actually ambivalent about this one. I can see the Giants bringing him back on a veteran minimum type deal and letting him compete for a roster spot. I can also see them parting ways with him if they bring back Walter Thurmond, and decide they like what they saw from Chykie Brown and Mike Harris. I am going with 'keep' based on the belief that you can never have enough good corners, so if Bowman is willing to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster the Giants might as well let him.
