The New York Giants are in a good position to get much-need help for their defense during Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2015 NFL. That is the opinion of Walter Football draft analyst Charlie Campbell, who joined Pat Traina (Bleacher Report/Inside Football) and myself Friday for the newest episode of the Big Blue Chat podcast.
Pat, Charlie and I are all in agreement that getting players to help Steve Spagnuolo's defense seems like the likely priority Friday night.
"I think there should be some nice values there for them in Rounds 2 and 3," Campbell said.
Campbell named defensive tackles Jordan Phillips, Eddie Goldman, Michael Bennett and Grady Jarrett as possible targets. Campbell said defensive backs Ronald Darby, P.J. Williams, Eric Rowe, Alex Carter and Doran Grant might be possibilities if the Giants choose to go in that direction. Defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa is a "nice fit," per Campbell. He also called Randy Gregory an "amazing" edge rusher.
Campbell added that inside linebackers Eric Kendricks, Benardrick McKinney and Denzel Perryman are also still on the board. Campbell said McKinney seems like the best fit for the Giants.
"There should be a good linebacker on the board when the Giants are set to pick in the second round," Campbell said. "I think they have a lot of good options the way this draft has played out and they're going to come away with some good defensive players here," Campbell said.

Ereck Flowers
Count Campbell among those who think Flowers was a terrific first-round pick for the Giants. Flowers was ranked No. 7 on the Walter Football Big Board and Campbell said he thought entering the draft that the big Miami offensive tackle was a "great fit" for the Giants.
"I think the Giants made the best pick they possibly could," Campbell said. "It wasn't a reach in any stretch in my mind. I think they got a legit starting left tackle ... I think he's going to come in and really have a quick impact for the Giants and he's going to turn into an excellent pro.
"I think they got a long-term starter on the offensive line and a difference-maker."
