2015 NFL Draft Prospect Profile: Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DE, UCLA

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants expressed interest in Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham in free agency, which is an indication that they are looking to add more players to their defensive end stable. Today we take a look at a player who could be an early round target for them.

Pros

- Sets the edge well and shows good pursuit in the run game

- Has long arms and can convert speed to power

- Plays with violent hands (and they are huge hands) and good pad level

- Showed off good explosion numbers at the combine

- Non-stop motor

- Scheme versatility

- A difficult to pronounce and spell name, which makes him a great candidate to be on the Giants

Cons

-- Double O is a work in progress as a pass rusher and has poor production there, but he does have some upside there

- He's a bit undersized for the prototype defensive end (actually built similarly to Brandon Graham)

- Fairly extensive injury history (hip surgeries)

- Player comparison: Everson Griffin (CBS Sports), Sam Acho (NFL.com)

Does He Fit With the Giants?

Yes. He would be a nice addition to the Giants. He has upside as a pass rusher, but his primary responsibility at UCLA was to stop the run. And he excelled at that. The value in Owamagbe Odighizuwa is in how much pass rushing potential a team believes he has.

Final Thoughts

I think Odighizuwa would be a fine pick if he's available in the second round because he will fill a need and his pass-rushing potential is nice. He played all over for the Bruins and should have a solid career in the NFL -- but there are questions about his longevity which I"m not privy too. Will his hips hold up in the NFL?
