Explanation

Panthers Gettleman could go a few directions here to improve the offense. Melvin Gordon and Dorial Green-Beckham are still on the board and could be an instant improvement to their offense. Humphries has too much value to pass up in this spot and improves their offensive line which was one with many issues last season. He also has the versatility to play different spots on the line.

Raptor's View

I love this pick. The Panthers are basically depending on not-tackles to play tackle. And with the rest of the NFC-South seemingly growing defenses, they'll need to get a starter on that line. I'm a big fan of Humphries and have him as my top tackle in this draft class. There are a few questions about him, but he's smooth, athletic, and a tenacious blocker. Most of his questions come from playing at 285 pounds while at Florida. Now at 310, he should have the power he was missing in college. Tall, long, with big hands, and a natural bender, Humphries is a prototypical NFL left tackle.
