Expanation

For years they have needed to re-tool their back 4. Their corners are old / horrible. Their Safeties are also a big issue. I was at the Steelers vs. Saints game last year where they doubled Jimmy Graham - and the WRs ran all over those horrible Corners.

With (Landon) Collins gone, I don't see a Safety I like at this spot. Tempted to pick Shaq Thompson and move him to a SS.

So, looking for a good CB.
I really like Jalen Collins, LSU, CB. He has the size (6'2, 200 lbs) and the skills to play CB in the Steelers system. He is missing the huge experience that you'd like. But the possibility of a shut down CB with his size and speed is far too tempting for them to wait.

Raptor's View

This is a pick that 'Invictus' and I will disagree on, I think. Personally, I like Collins. He has great length, and I love Mayock's description of him having "oily" hips. He is (usually) almost effortless in flipping his hips in coverage. Fortunately for him, the best QB/WR combination in the league would be on his team, so he'd get plenty of work in practice to make up for his inexperience at LSU.
