2015 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft: Vikings Select Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford At 11

The Vikings try again to get their franchise left tackle.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The eleventh pick of the 2015 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft is in:

11) Minnesota Vikings

GM - Ingentes

Pick - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford

Explanation

Trae Waynes was a consideration here, but I ultimately passed because of the strong play from two young corners; Xavier Rhodes and Captain Munnerlyn (best name in the NFL). Corner would be more of a luxury, and I believe the Vikings should prioritize keeping Teddy upright. Matt Kalil, who had a promising rookie season, has strongly regressed in each of the last two seasons. Last year he was one of the worst tackles in the league. As a result, Teddy was sacked 39 times in only 12 starts. Prorated over a full 16 game season, Teddy would have been sacked 52 times, which would have placed him in a tie for second with Colin Kaepernick (behind Blake Bortles). Andrus Peat has the athleticism to come in and immediately contribute. Peat, in my opinion, is the best tackle prospect in the draft. His freakish athleticism and intangibles (just check out Invictus' Film Study) makes him the ideal choice to protect Teddy's blindside for years to come.

Raptor's View

Personally, I go back and forth on Peat. I absolutely see what has 'Invictus' (and many others) so high on him, but I also see the inconsistencies in his game, and they scare me. It could be that Peat's issues are just something he'll grow out of as he matures as a football player. If he can play up to his potential, Peat is an absolute steal here.

The Cleveland Browns are officially On The Clock!
