Weatherford, who had a punt partially blocked earlier in the quarter, was hit by Detroit's Jerome Couplin and his left foot twisted awkwardly underneath Couple. Weatherford continued to punt and to hold for placekicker Josh Brown, but was in obvious discomfort throughout the remainder of the game.
Following the game Weatherford tried to tweet some encouraging words to a concerned Giants fan base.
Thank you for all the prayers and support from the amazing friends/fans/family. Very blessed it wasn’t my knee. I’ll be back.

The Giants also lost rookie linebacker Devon Kennnard during the game with an apparent hamstring injury.
