Oddsmakers don't like the New York Giants chances on Monday night when they open their 2014 NFL regular season vs. the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. The Giants have been established as 5-point underdogs in opening odds.
The Giants, of course, buried themselves under the avalanche of an 0-6 start in 2013 and want nothing to do with repeating a similarly awful start. Wide receiver Victor Cruz has already gone on record calling Monday's season-opener a 'must-win' for the Giants:
"Every game is a must-win in this league, especially the first one. You want to go out there and start your season on the right foot and start the season on a positive note," said wide receiver Victor Cruz. "The first one is definitely a must-win and all of them are."
Peter King of SI.com said on Monday that he doesn't like the Giants' chances Monday against a Detroit team with a high-powered offense:
I have never seen a more misleading 5-0 preseason than the one the New York Giants just had. Eli Manning completed 49 percent of his throws, Odell Beckham (hamstring) wasn’t healthy all summer, and the passing game looked just as sickly as Beckham. Yikes. Giants have to win a scoring contest with Detroit a week from tonight. I don’t like their chances.
What do you think, Giants fans? Will the Giants be 1-0 or 0-1 after Monday night?
