The New York Giants (0-1) need a victory Sunday over thje Arizona Cardinals to avoid an 0-2 start and circumvent the inevitable questions comparing this season to last year's 0-6 start. The Giants appear to have caught a huge break as Arizona starting quarterback Carson Palmer won't play due to a shoulder injury. Backup quarterback Drew Stanton will play for the Cardinals.

This is a familiar situation for the Giants, who took advantage of a number of backup quarterbacks in their seven victories a season ago. Among them were Josh Freeman, Terrelle Pryor, and Scott Tolzien.
