The New York Giants will catch a huge break Sunday in their game against the Arizona Cardinals as Cards quarterback Carson Palmer will not play, per a report from Ian Rapoport.

Backup quarterback Drew Stanton will start for the Cardinals. Stanton has not played in an NFL game since 2010. In his seven-year career he has played in 12 games, starting four.
Palmer had been listed as questionable in the official injury report on Friday. He did come out to warm up, but apparently decided the shoulder would not allow him to throw.
This is a familiar scenario for the Giants, who won several games last season against opposing backup quarterbacks. It also makes winning Sunday even more critical for the 0-1 Giants.
