What Today Means

The memory of last season's 0-6 start hovers over the entire Giants organization, as well as the fan base. That is why the Giants were so hopeful they could go into Detroit on Monday and open their season with a victory. After the loss, head coach Tom Coughlin was already being asked about that 0-6 beginning a season ago. The questions will only grow and the vitriol from jittery Giants fans will only get nastier if the Giants don't win a game soon.

The Giants, as Coughlin has said many times, are a work in progress. With their new offense and all of the new players they have on both sides of the ball it stands to reason that this is a team that should improve as the season goes along. The key will be not to get buried early and make the second half of the season meaningless, at least in terms of a chance to reach the playoffs.

A victory today would boost the Giants confidence and the spirits of the fan base. It would also keep them from having to face more questions about last season's awful start.

Below, I leave you with a musical interlude that I thought was appropriate for the day. Giants' fans, and, considering how things have gone all week, fans all around the NFL are 'Waitin' On A Sunny Day.' Besides, this choice is an excuse to listen to Bruce Springsteen -- my favorite artist of all time. Enjoy!
