NFL Power Rankings 2014: Giants No. 19 in SB Nation rankings

SB Nation places the Giants No. 19 in power rankings as preseason closes.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

As part of its incredible 2014 NFL preview the folks t SB Nation have released NFL Power Rankings heading into the new season. Your New York Giants check in at No. 19.

Here is what SB Nation said in placing the Giants at 19:

The Giants are betting big that Ben McAdoo's West Coast system is just what Eli Manning needs to bounce back from a nightmare season. If the early returns are any indication, it could be a long year for Big Blue.

The Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints are 1-5 in the SB Nation rankings.

The Philadelphia Eagles come in at No. 7. At 19, the Giants are ahead of the Dallas Cowboys (21) and Washington Redskins (24).

I can't really argue much with the Giants being middle of the pack, and probably slightly outside the playoffs in these rankings. The Giants have a lot to prove this season and, honestly, things could go either way. This could be a 5-11 team if they can't protect Eli Manning or pressure opposing quarterbacks. If they make Manning comfortable and the pass rush re-emerges maybe a 10-win season isn't unrealistic.

We will see over the next few months.
