The New York Giants insisted Monday that rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. did not tweak his hamstring Monday when he pulled up and stopped practicing after being hit in the back of the leg. Tuesday, however, multiple media reports indicate that Beckham has been ruled out of Friday night's preseason game vs. the New York Jets.
Beckham has been bothered by the hamstring since OTAs. He missed most of spring practice. He then aggravated the hamstring the first day of training camp and did not practice again until last week. The Giants first-round pick, being counted on to be a productive player as a rookie, has yet to appear in a preseason game.
Tom Coughlin told reporters after practice that Beckham did not have a setback with his hamstring, but I have to agree with Pat Traina here. Pat tweeted the following:
Semantics here with Beckham. If you're not practicing after practicing because you're sore, I'm not sure how that's not a setback.

You have to wonder at this point if Beckham will play in the preseason final against the New England Patriots. More importantly, you also have to wonder if he will be a productive part of the Giants offense at all this season.
