The New York Giants ended their training camp Thursday. The Giants will be off Friday and will play the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in their third preseason game. When they return to practice next week, those workouts will be closed to the public.
Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, won't play Saturday vs. the Colts.
"Expect him next week, but not this week," head coach Tom Coughlin said. "Just not enough work."
Plan seems to be #giants will have starters play a quarter/maybe little more vs Colts. Doesn't sound like Coughlin wants them playing a half— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) August 14, 2014
Coughlin, Jerry Reese and Eli Manning took the Ice Bucket Challenge today. Here is Coughlin.
Coughlin said starters will play a varying number of snaps, but doesn't expect any to play the full first half.
Curtis Painter will take second-team snaps vs. Indianapolis. "That's where we are right now," Coughlin said. Read whatever you want into that.
Here's Coughlin's thought on the end of training camp.
"It is (the end), but it isn't. We still have two preseason games to go (after Saturday)," Coughlin said. "The guys that are here and have permanent residences it's time they had a chance to go home, that type of thing. I think we could wait a while to talk about training camp."
What is Coughlin looking for Saturday?
"Right away I would like to stop the run. I don't want anybody to run the ball on our first defense," Coughlin said. "I'd like to be a little more consistent, and a little better tempo on the offensive side of the ball."
