Las Vegas oddsmaker Bovada has set the odds of New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning winning the 2014 MVP award at 50-1. The same odds were given to Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers and Marshawn Lynch.
Peyton Manning is a 3-1 favorite, followed by Drew Brees (11-2), Aaron Rodgers (15-2) and Tom Brady (9-1).
It might annoy Giants fans to know that among the 16 players given better odds of winning MVP are Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford (20-1), Robert Griffin III (25-1), Matt Ryan (33-1) and Nick Foles (40-1).
The Giants would benefit greatly if Manning, off the worst season of his NFL career, can even put himself in the 2014 MVP discussion. A comeback season by Manning is a necessity if the Giants are going to reach the playoffs for the first time since winning the 2011 Super Bowl.
For Manning, even putting himself in the discussion for Comeback Player of the Year would be enough to help his team.
