Here are a few quick notes and quotes from the morning media session before heading out to watch Sunday's practice.

Rookie placekicker Brandon McManus, competing with veteran Josh Brown, told reporters he made a 75-yard field goal while working out at Lehigh University two to three weeks ago. McManus said it would have to be the "perfect situation" to get a chance to kick a field goal of similar length in a game.

McManus on competing with Brown: "I know my capabilities, I kick here with Josh every day and we're battling hard against each other. I feel like even if one of us don't make it we'll open up other teams eyes."

Josh Brown on the competition: "I had a great year last year and I come into this camp with a great deal of confidence. I have no reason to believe that they would want to replace me. My goal is not to give them one."

More on the kicking competition in a later post.

Rookie linebacker Devon Kennard has been starting on the strong-side and generating a good deal of buzz in the fan base. He is, however, well aware that he still has much to prove. "I haven't done anything yet. It's still early in camp and I hav a long way to go. Every day I'm just trying to get better."
