Can Markus Kuhn be a part of the New York Giants' defensive tackle rotation in 2014? Can Kuhn even make the final roster? Let's take a closer look at Kuhn as we continue our player-by-player profiles of the 90-man roster the Giants will bring to training camp in less than three weeks.
2013 Season In Review
Kuhn began the season on PUP after undergoing season-ending knee surgery at the end of the 2012 season. He appeared in only five games for the Giants last season, making one tackle while playing only 10 defensive snaps.
2014 Season Outlook
Cullen Jenkins, Johnathan Hankins, Mike Patterson all figure to be ahead of Kuhn on the depth chart. By the time the season starts you could probably put rookie third-round pick Jay Bromley ahead of Kuhn as well. The third-year player from Germany figures to be in competition with undrafted free agent Kelcy Quarles for a roster spot. The German-born Kuhn is a third-year player, but he isn't as young as you might think. He is 28, which means he is not a young, developmental player. If he wants to continue his NFL career, the time is now for him to step up and prove that he really belongs.
