Can Jacquian Williams stay healthy throughout the entire 2014 season?

With training camp just a few days away, Big Blue View is putting the finishing touches on its look at the 90-man roster the Giants will take to East Rutherford. Today, let's get to know linebacker Jacquian Williams.

2013 Season In Review

Jacquian Williams appeared in all 16 games for the Giants for the second time in his three-year career. The versatile 25-year-old was a solid against the pass matching up with the opponents tight end in the Giants' nickel set. Williams finished with 58 tackles, two fumble recoveries and eight passes defensed.

2014 Season Outlook

Williams has been one of the bright spots for the Giants this offseason. Coaches have raved about the progress the former sixth-round pick has made and as a result have inserted Williams into the Giants' base 4-3 set. Williams has always had the athletic ability to be one of the more versatile linebackers in the NFL, but has struggled with health. If Williams can stay on the field throughout training camp, the preseason and eventually regular season, he could be in for a big year.

"This OTA and minicamp he did a great job in our base stuff as a WIL. He’s a natural WIL in nickel, he did a great job with our WILL stuff in base," said linebackers coach Jim Herrmann. "To me he made a big jump and big improvement this spring."
