The New York Giants are forever trying to pull linebackers off the NFL scrap heap and see if they can something out of them. Think about their flirtation with Aaron Curry last season. With that in mind, let's look at Spencer Adkins, a linebacker the Giants signed to a reserve/futures contract during the offseason.
2013 Season In Review
Adkins was a 2009 sixth-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons. He has played 16 games, with one start. After being out of the league entirely in 2012, Adkins was signed to a reserver/futures contract by the Baltimore Ravens last season. He was cut in July.
2014 Season Outlook
The 5-foot-11, 242-pound Adkins is getting what looks like a last chance to revive his NFL career. Realistically, there seems to be little chance that Adkins, whose sub-4.5 40-yard dash speed is what likely earned him a chance to begin win, can stick with the Giants.
The Giants drafted Devon Kennard in the fifth round. Undrafted free agent Dan Fox has also impressed during OTAs, increasing the likelihood that this will be the last stop on Adkins' NFL journey.
