Let's continue our series of player-by-player profiles of the New York Giants' 90-man training camp roster today. The sptlight here is on long-snapper Zak DeOssie.
2013 Season In Review
DeOssie has made a career of being a reliable long-snapper and solid punt coverage guy, and that continued in 2013. He did have the worst snap of his career, sailing a punt snap well over the head of Steve Weatherford in a game last season. His Pro Football Focus score of -7.5 was likely indicative of the special teams malaise as a whole rather than his individual play.
2014 Outlook
DeOssie should continue as the Giants' long-snapper, there is really no reason to believe otherwise. DeOssie, incidentally, is in the midst of a three-year, $3.45 million contract -- not bad money for snapping the ball between your legs a few times a year and running downfield to try and make a tackle.
