Giants Roster Breakdown: Charles Brown, OT

Who is Charles Brown? Should you pay attention to him?

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sport

The New York Giants report for training camp on July 21, less than two months from now. Between now and then we have been breaking down the 90-man roster the team will bring to training camp. Today, let's get to know offensive lineman Charles Brown.

2013 Season Review

Brown has failed to live up to the expectations that led to him being labeled one of the best offensive tackles in the 2010 NFL Draft. Brown started a career-high 14 games for the New Orleans Saints last year at left tackle after starting a combined eight the previous four years. He had a -9.2 Pro Football Focus grade, and allowed seven sacks.

2014 Season Outlook

The Giants signed Brown to a one-year contract on April 1, looking to add depth to an offensive line that was depleted by injuries a year ago. Through the early portions of the team's OTAs, it appears as if Brown is going to fill in at left tackle until starter Will Beatty returns from injury. Brown, 27, has started eight games at right tackle. If Brown can display some of the potential he had coming out of college, he could provide very valuable depth across the line.
