2014 NFL Draft Picks: Weston Richburg bolsters Giants' offensive line

New, comments

Where does second-round pick Weston Richburg fit on the Giants' offensive line? We look at the projected depth chart following his selection.

By selecting Colorado State center Weston Richburg in Round 2 of the 2014 NFL Draft, 43rd overall, the New York Giants bolstered their offensive line with a versatile prospect who could also see the field early as a rookie.

As Ed wrote in his first story on the pick, drafting Richburg -- a four-year starter at Colorado State -- allows the Giants to provide an immediate challenge to J.D. Walton at center. Given Richburg's ability to also play at guard, the rest of the line -- which remains unsettled aside from right guard Chris Snee and last year's first-round draft pick, right tackle Justin Pugh -- should also be pushed. Other recent draft picks still on the roster include last year's seventh-round pick Eric Herman, 2012 fourth-round pick Brandon Mosley and 2011 fourth-round pick James Brewer. Only Mosley (13 games/one start, all in 2013) and Brewer (24 games/eight starts in career) have seen game action.

Here's Big Blue View's projected depth chart for 2014, updated from Wednesday's pre-draft version to include the additions of first-round pick Odell Beckham Jr. and Richburg.
