[UPDATE by Ed Valentine, 05/08/14 7:20 p.m.]
Ralph Vacchiano has offered what I believe will be our final update until we begin a new thread at 8 p.m. ET when the draft begins. Vacchiano lays out what he believes to be the Giants' draft plan for Round 1:
-- Their dream pick is Texas A&M WR Mike Evans. Their second choice would be Michigan T Taylor Lewan. They do not think either player will still be there at 12 and have no plans to trade up.
-- They expect their choice to come down to LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr. or Notre Dame OL Zack Martin and I believe Beckum is the player that most of the people in their draft room prefer.
-- They have no interest in North Carolina TE Eric Ebron.
We will know if he is right in a couple of hours.

Receivers getting hot. Clubs looking to trade up for them. That could knock some O Lineman down a little
— Greg Gabriel (@greggabe) May 8, 2014
Who knows if this has any validity. If it does that could be a good thing for the Giants at No. 12.

seems as if at least 2 QBs will have to go in the first 11 for the #giants #bigblue to have a chance at one of the top 4 OTs
— GiantsWFAN (@giantswfan) May 8, 2014
This might be why Jesse Bartolis pointed out to me just a little while ago that there seems to be increasing speculation that the pick for the Giants will end up being LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

How's this for a Draft Day story? UNC TE Eric Ebron just proposed to his girlfriend atop the Empire State Building! @NFLonFOX @FOXSports1

That's one dream come true for Ebron. Another of his dreams has been to play for the Giants. Will that one come true tonight, as well?

If Johnny Manziel falls to them, #Giants would consider taking him at No. 12, source says http://t.co/gUqAsNhwf2
— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) May 8, 2014
Holy moly! Radio City Music Hall would go bananas if this happened, the Internet would break and BBV would set all sorts of monumental traffic records. More likely scenario: If Manziel is there at 12 the Giants work the phones furiously to see if anyone wants to trade up, and the Giants collect a few extra picks.

From @JordanRaanan, the #Giants are considering Johnny Manziel at No. 12. http://t.co/cTpjvVCFxT

Could work in #NYG favor for Zack Martin RT @WGR550: Sources: Beckham, Jr. in serious consideration for Bills at 9 http://t.co/hSfKRVcmob
— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) May 8, 2014
Agreed here that this would help the Giants if they want Martin. Then again, if they want Beckham this is not such good news.

Update 11:46 by Ed Valentine, a.m.
Teams that have inquired about trading UP include DET, NYJ, CLEV (from 26), SF, HOU (from round 2 into 1), ATL (from round 2 into 1).
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) May 8, 2014
Could any of these teams be looking to move to 12, where the Giants reside? Trading down in a deep draft might not be a bad thing.

The 2014 NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET Thursday night -- finally. The New York Giants, as you most likely already know, have the 12th overall selection in the first round. Final mock drafts are coming in with Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin appearing to be the consensus choice. Our NFL Draft Hub Page has all of our coverage leading up to today, and today's Draft Day 1 StoryStream will have everything that goes on throughout the day.
Big Blue View's staff will bring you complete coverage of the proceedings. This thread will be a live blog of rumors and news affecting the Giants between now and when Round 1 begins Thursday night. During Round 1 BBV's Connor Hughes will be live-blogging all the activity in a different thread. WE will have the Giants' pick tonight, as well as reactions from the player selected, Giants' team officials and fans on social media.
So, there really won't be any need to go anywhere else.
