Football Outsiders projects the Giants to go 9-7 and reach the playoffs. Will the projection become reality?

More interesting than the fact that Todd McShay of ESPN selected a linebacker for the New York Giants in his ridiculously early 2015 NFL Mock Draft is the fact that the draft order is based on projected 2014 records provided to McShay by Football Outsiders.

The Giants are projected to go 9-7 and make the playoffs as a wild-card team, ending up with the 23rd selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Here are the projected records of all of the NFC East teams:

Philadelphia Eagles 10-6
Giants 9-7
Dallas Cowboys 7-9
Washington Redskins 6-10

The Giants' offseason work in both the NFL Draft and free agency has received generally high marks from most analysts. Will it be enough to get them back to the playoffs for the first time in three years? We now have at least one projection that says yes. Whether you want to put any stock in that is up to you.

Oh, and if you are part of the 'Beezer Brigade' and you want to start the year-long frothing at the mouth over the possibility of the Giants drafting a first-round linebacker -- Ramik Wilson of Georgia in McShay's mock -- my guess is that you can't be stopped.
