2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: With 13th pick, St. Louis Rams select ...

We move past the New York Giants' selection of Taylor Lewan at No. 12 in the Big Blue View Community Mock Draft this morning. The St. Louis Rams are up up again, and with their second pick of the first round, 13th overall, 'BigBlueWreckingYou' has chosen Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin.

'BigBlueWreckingYou' explains:

I was hoping to land Taylor Lewan at this spot but the way this draft played out that wasn't possible. I know most of you will say say this is early for Martin but the same thing was said for Pugh last year and we were all proven wrong. It's not a sexy pick but it's a safe one which happens to fill a huge need. Sam Bradford has to stay up right if the Rams want to get anywhere in their division. The offense had two problems last year: 1) Bradford not getting enough time to throw. 2) When he did have enough time to throw his receivers weren't able to get separation. Hopefully my first two picks can address those problems. Jake Long is oft-injured and will need to be replaced soon. Worst case scenario is Martin not panning out at tackle and the Rams plugging him at guard where he is said to have All-Pro potential. I could've gone with HaHa here and a T/G in the second but the value of Zack Martin here and possibly landing Jimmy Ward/Deone Buchanan later on is much higher.

Valentine's View

I can't criticize this pick at all, especially when I know that I believe Martin is a guy who will be in the discussion for the New York Giants at No. 12. This has been a good first-round haul for the Rams, with wide receiver Sammy Watkins at No. 2 and now Martin at No. 13.
