Well, this got confusing quickly.
According to conflicting reports, HBO's "Hard Knocks" has narrowed its team list down to three for this summer's installment of the hit series. Among the teams? The New York Giants.
HBO and the NFL have narrowed down the HARD KNOCKS teams to a list of three: Bears, Giants, Steelers.

Shortly after, a second tweet was released disputing said reports.
NFL's Greg Aiello on report that Bears, Giants, Steelers are finalists for Hard Knocks: "totally inaccurate."

Whether the reports of the list being narrowed to three is true or not, it does not change the fact that the Giants are among eight teams that can now be forced into starring on the series. In previous years, a team needed to accept HBO's film crew into its locker room throughout training camp. While HBO could request each team, it needed to be a mutual agreement.
This year, things have changed. Owners passed a new rule in which the league can force a team to star on the series unless the team has:
1 A new head coach
2 Made the playoffs in one of the previous two seasons
3 Already appeared on the show in the last 10 years
The Giants along with the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers all meet the criteria.
There has been no indication of when a decision will be made, but Roger Goodell told the Chicago Sun-Times that a decision is "on the horizon."
