ESPN gurus Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay have simultaneously released version 5.0 of their 2014 NFL Mock Drafts. While NFL fans are suffered draft fatigue thanks to the league's decision to push the date of the draft -- which normally would already have been held -- back two weeks, it is still instructive to look at who Kiper and McShay have selected at No. 12 for the New York Giants.

Kiper has selected Pittsburgh defensive tackle Aaron Donald for the Giants. McShay has gone with more of a dark horse candidate, LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Here is Kiper's explanation for the Donald pick:

I've had tight end Eric Ebron pegged here previously, but I think Donald's rise up many boards makes him a pretty good get at this point. The drop-off from Donald to the next defensive tackle in his mold is enough where I think he gets a little boost, and he also helps out at a pretty significant need spot for the Giants. I know many Giants fans want to see an offensive weapon here, but the depth chart along the defensive line could certainly use some youth and explosiveness. I think Ebron could fit -- as could a receiver -- but if Donald isn't taken here, he could be taken at any of the next four spots on the board.

Valentine's View: It is simply interesting to note here that Mike Evans and Taylor Lewan are already off Kiper's board here, and that he leaves Ebron and Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin on the board in making this pick.

Here is McShay's explanation for the Beckham Jr. selection:

Wide receiver isn't the top need for the Giants (tight end and offensive tackle are more pressing), but given Hakeem Nicks' departure and Victor Cruz's injury woes last season, it wouldn't hurt to add another playmaker at wideout to pair with Rueben Randle. Beckham can heat it up in a hurry, has very good top-end speed is a big-time playmaker with the ball in his hands.

Valentine's View: Evans, Lewan and Ebron have already been selected in McShay's mock. He bypasses Donald and Martin, among others, to make this selection. Here, I will say it would surprise me if the Giants grab Beckham Jr. before addressing either of their interior lines.

Which of these picks do you like, Giants' fans?
