2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: Packers, Eagles, Bengals make Round 2 picks

The 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft is reaching its stretch run. Picks 53-55 (Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals) have now been made. Those picks are below. As of this writing, these are the last picks that have been turned in.

53. Green Bay Packers -- Terrence Brooks, S, Florida State

Pretend GM 'ct17' explains:

Green Bay suffered from sub-par play at the free safety position last year. M.D. Jennings, last year's starter, was not tendered as a restricted free agent and was signed by the Bears, and his backup, Jerron McMillian, was cut in December. Brooks is a true coverage safety with the athleticism and intelligence to shut down the deep part of the field. I would also have considered Amaro and Seferian-Jenkins if they fell, and Green Bay does need a better third wide receiver than Jarrett Boykin. But Brooks is the highest-rated player left on my board.

54. Philadelphia Eagles -- Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State

Pretend GM 'Revenge of the Blackshirts' explains:

Eagles need a lot of defense help as evident by their being ranked 20th in the league for sacks and fourth in the NFL in most points allowed. They were ranked eighth for INTs though, which surprised me. After going with a wide receiver in the first round, looks like the Eagles could use some pass rush help. Demarcus Lawrence will be able to provide them with a good OLB in their 3-4 defense. Cole is not getting younger and Graham is not a 3-4 OLB, nor representative of a 1st round pick (thank you Eagles for passing on JPP). Lawrence is good against the run, but suspect in passing situations. He has the athleticism to learn how to cover though and his real value will come as a pass rusher. Lawrence is ranked No. 42 on my big board, so he is great value in this spot. He should improve the Eagles' D pretty quickly.

55. Cincinnati Bengals -- Marcus Martin, C, USC

Pretend GM 'kayjay' explains:

After letting Kyle Cook go the Bengals have nobody manning the middle of the line to make checks with Andy Dalton. Martin is a smart and powerful Center, which helps the Bengals run game that was effective with first-year back Giovani Bernard and keep Dalton in positions where he doesn't have to press too much for the Bengals to win games. He along with Kevin Zeitler can put together a nice young interior for a Bengals line that already boast the likes of Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith.
