Let's move on from the divisive pick made by yours truly for the New York Giants in our 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft. We have three more picks for you today.
44. St. Louis Rams -- Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois
Our pretend GM is 'grandblue'. He explains:
There are two reasons for this. Not only is safety one of the biggest needs on the Rams, he is also an incredibly physical player, and a very hard hitter. Any video of him shows Ward punishing runners and receivers who come into his area. While one common critique of Ward is that his style of tackling will cause him injuries and fines in the future, this risk is worthwhile when you consider the division he would become a part of. A team needs a hard hitter when they are facing punishing runners like Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch in 25% of their games, making Ward a valuable commodity for St. Louis.
45. Detroit Lions -- Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
Our pretend GM for the Lions is 'Wangstu13'. He explains:
The Lions went out and got Golden Tate in free agency, however I expect them to look long and hard at a few day 2 WR prospects to keep the pipeline full for Matthew Stafford. Adams is a big target who can win 50/50 balls.
46. Pittsburgh Steelers -- Stephen Tuitt, DT, Notre Dame
Our pretend GM for the Steelers is 'ross_stephen'. He explains:
He's an incredibly quick and large lineman who could probably play a three-technique defensive tackle spot as well as a 5-technique defensive end. His versatility makes him so attractive - look at what Cincinnati did with pre-ACL tear Geno Atkins. He would pair nicely with Cameron Heyward from 2 years ago. He can replace the very old Keesel (35 years old and FA), and the departed Ziggy Hood. The Steelers' defense just got a lot better with Dennard and Tuitt on the roster. [Prospect Profile]
