2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: With 10th pick, Detroit Lions select ...

The 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft is not working out the way I know many of you hoped it would for the New York Giants. Texas A&M wide receiver and North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron are already gone. Now, Pitt defensive tackle Aaron Donald is out of reach, with pretend GM 'Wangtsu13' making Donald the 10th overall selection for the Detroit Lions.

'Wangtsu13' explains:

Nick Fairley has one year left on his deal and will likely receive a big contract next year. So this is a need/BPA for the Lions.

Valentine's View

Not sure I buy this pick for the Lions. Not that Donald's talent make it impossible for him to be taken this high, I just don't see Donald as the right player for Detroit with Fairley and Ndamukong Suh already there. They could use a corner, a linebacker or an offensive lineman. Covering themselves for the possibility of losing Fairley down the road seems like something a team does on Day 2, not with a first-round pick.
