2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: With 9th pick, Buffalo Bills select ...

Sometimes in life, and in mock drafts, things don't always go the way you hope they will. With the ninth pick in the 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft another potential target for the New York Giants at No. 12 has escaped their my clutches. In his role as pretend GM for the Buffalo Bills, 'Bigbluethruandthru' has selected North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron with the ninth overall selection.

'Bigbluethruandthru' explains:

If the draft shakes out like this, the Bills probably aren't happy. I think they want one of the top two WRs or one of the top two tackles. With all four out option C is probably try to trade back, because the top safeties are not worth a top 10 pick. In this draft, with the ninth pick the Bills select Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina. E.J. Manuel needs more receiving options desperately, and I wouldn't be shocked to see the Bills hit WR in either the second or third round as well. Ebron has the range and speed to allow Nate Hackett to hit the middle of the field, something Scott Chandler is kind of too slow to do and the receiving core is kind of too small to do.

Read this whatever way you want, but this selection narrows the options for the Giants at 12 -- and, in a way, makes the selection I have to make soon clearer. Would I have taken Ebron for the Giants at 12? Maybe, maybe not. It is, undoubtedly, an excellent pick for the Bills. Manuel needs better targets, no matter whether that is at tight end or wide receiver. Ebron gives him one.
