We have reached the final pick of the first round of the 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft. In his role as pretend GM of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahwaks, 'TNYFBG' select Minnesota defensive tackle Ra'shede Hageman for the Seahawks.
'TNYFBG' explains:
Going into this pick, I had OL, WR, and CB as the top needs. After some chat with the Field Gulls folks, they seemed content with Maxwell and Sherman (as well they should), but don't see the lack of depth I do beyond them. They did request that I consider a penetrating DT, which I had overlooked, but agree is a significant need with Tony McDaniel the penciled-in starter next to Mebane. So, looking at my Big Board, there a few ways to go. Jason Verrett is a consideration, but I'm also considering Ra'Shede Hagemen, Joel Bitonio, Yankey, and big Gabe as well. I don't see a WR that isn't a pretty big reach at 32, so I'll wait to get one later.
Seattle's tendencies in the first seem to be to build in the trenches, so eventually it came down to Hageman vs. Bitonio.
