2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: With 7th pick, Tampa Bay Bucs select ...

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are up with the seventh overall pick in outr 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft. Playing the role of GM is 'nyg25,' and the selection for the Bucs in this spot is Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews.

'nyg25' explains:

As the Bucs GM, I just signed Josh McCown to a two-year, $10 million contract and have Mike Glennon coming off a season with 19 TDs and 9 INTs as my back up. Although it's not the prettiest, the QB situation could be worse and despite Manziel and Bridgewater being available here, I have to go with the best player available. No matter who the QB is, they need protection. (See Eli Manning)

Jake Matthews would only add to the improvement of the Bucs O-Line this offseason. Bucs signed Evan Dietrich-Smith at center and added seven-year tackle Anthony Collins. Adding Matthews bolsters the line and gives that added protection to whoever is behind center for Tampa this year. Matthews is a safe pick here and combining him with a good WR and/or TE later in a deep draft will go along way in improving this offense.

Valentine's View

Pretty tough to argue with the idea that Matthews is great value here. He is ranked No. 2 on the Big Blue View Big Board and in his Matthews Prospect Profile 'Invictus' writes that Matthews will be "a fixture for whoever drafts him for years to come." One interesting note for me is that our GMs have been passing on the top quarterbacks in this draft. Let's see how long that continues.
