With the sixth overall pick in our 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft we finally see one of the Big Three of the draft's offensive tackles come off the board. Selecting for the Atlanta Falcons, 'parksy52' grabs Auburn offensive tackle Greg Robinson.
'parksy52' explains:
If the board falls like this for the Falcons on draft day, don't get in the way of Thomas Dimitroff as he's sprinting to the podium. Atlanta's most pressing needs are guys who can rush the quarterback, and guys who can protect their own, so being able to grab the top tackle prospect in the draft at 6 is a no-brainer here. Robinson is big, athletic, and phenomenal at run blocking. His pass protection is still developing, mostly because Auburn's offensive scheme rarely required it, but his potential makes him the easy choice here.
Valentine's View
It is about time a left offensive tackle came off our draft board. In 2013, three of the first four picks were left tackles and all three of the top tackles in this class -- Robinson, Jake Matthews of Texas A&M and Taylor Lewan of Michigan -- are considered better than last year's No. 1 overall pick, Eric Fisher. That tells you how much the NFL values the position. It also tells you, in my opinion, that they have been under-valued in the first five selections here.
