2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: Texans select ...

Our 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft is off and running. With the first overall pick, '56 4life,' playing the role of general manager for the Houston Texans, has taken South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. His explanation:

While the Texans are definitely in need of a QB, there are two reasons I just can't select one with this pick. The first is I'm really not in love with any of the QB's in this class. The second reason is it's just impossible for me to pass up one of the best defensive prospects to enter the draft in a very long time.

Clowney had a down year, sure, but he's still a freak of nature that will make an immediate impact for the Houston Texans. Paired with JJ Watt, offenses will be very limited in what they can do on the field. When you have a chance to take away a good chunk of an offense's playbook, you do so without hesitation. For me, Jadeveon Clowney is the obvious pick here. Seattle won the Super Bowl with the league's nasty defense and a third round QB at the helm. Defense wins championships, Clowney goes first overall.

Valentine's View: Hardly a big stunner here. If it wasn't a quarterback this pick was going to be Clowney -- exactly the way the real 2014 NFL Draft should work out in a few weeks.
