The New York Giants have, somewhat stunningly, signed free-agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Rodgers-Cromartie and the Giants reportedly agreed to a five-year contract on Monday.
According to a source, DRC's five-year deal with the Giants is worth $35 million, according to a source. #NYG

Perhaps taking a cue from the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the Giants have completely revamped -- and on paper massively -- upgraded their secondary.
Rodgers-Cromartie, 28 next season, is the marquee piece in the Giants’ new-look secondary. Rodgers-Cromartie will likely man one side, while Prince Amukamara handles the other. Newly-signed Walter Thurmond seems the likely slot corner. Trumaine McBride, re-signed by the Giants after a career renaissance in 2013, third-year man Jayron Hosley and second-year man Charles James provide depth. The Rodgers-Cromartie signing almost certainly means Terrell Thomas’ time with the Giants has come to a close.
The Giants have also shuffled their safety position, re-signing Stevie Brown, adding safety/kick returner Quintin Demps and losing Ryan Mundy to the Chicago Bears.
DRC, as he is known, is a six-year veteran who has played with the Broncos,Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. He was Pro Football focus's fifth-ranked cornerback in 2013 with a +13.0 and a 67.8 passer rating against. He allowed only 30 completions in 68 targets (44.1 percent).
PFF summarizes Rodgers-Cromartie this way:
He severely outplayed his one year deal with the Broncos and ranked as our fifth-highest graded cornerback in 2013. His 44.1% catch rate allowed ranked second in the league. He also ranked third in our signature stat, coverage snaps per reception, with a 15.7 mark, as he only trailed Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis. His talent and potential is unquestioned. Teams will, however, be looking to gauge his commitment. He seemed disengaged on the field at times and even stated that he was contemplating retirement after the season.
Your thoughts on both Rodgers-Cromartie and the revamped secondary, Giants’ fans?
