Valentine's View: Jones sounds like a visit, not as certain he will sign as we are with Schwartz and Jennings. Jones would be a terrific addition. Will have more on this later, but right now I have to say I absolutely love what the Giants appear to have done thus far. Every signing solid, and you can see the reason for each move. Maybe the Schofield signing in an overpay, but we don't know the player well at this point.

Valentine's View: I know this will upset some of you. It comes down to this, though -- if Ryan Nassib can't take the backup QB job away from Painter during the preseason then how good is Nassib in the first place?

[UPDATE 2:47 PM EDT]

Safety Stevie Brown will return to the New York Giants. Brown announced the news on his Twitter account, without getting into specifics of his new contract. In other news, Pro Football Talk is reporting that defensive end Justin Tuck is leaning toward a return to the Giants.

Brown had a breakout season with the Giants in 2012 when he intercepted eight passes, but missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL. He has maintained all along that he wanted to return to the Giants, and after missing 2013 it seemed logical that would happen since the injury likely decreased his market.

Brown's return with Antrel Rolle and Will Hill also in place, gives the Giants a trio of quality safeties. It also means veteran Ryan Mundy almost certainly will move on.

Tuck has been hoping for one final payday and has indicated that he wanted to find out what other teams thought his value was. If he is already said to be leaning toward a return to the Giants perhaps he hasn't received the type of free-agent offers he was hoping for.

The signing period for announcing deal with free agents from other teams begins at 4 p.m. The Giants have been in on offensive guard Geoff Schwartz and running back Rashad Jennings, so watch for news there.

You can use this as a new thread for news and rumors.
