As great as the one-handed touchdown grab by Odell Beckham against the Dallas Cowboys was two weeks ago, Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger says Beckham "had better" catches during practice while the two were teammates at LSU.
Told be a reporter that it was hard to believe Beckham had made better grabs, Mettenberger said "I didn't stutter."
"That was not a surprise for anyone who has been around those two for the last three years," Mettenberger said. "Trust me, if you can get your hands on some of the practice film at LSU you could see just how freaky of catches that he has made in the past."
Mettenberger also called Beckham "the best athlete I have ever been around."
Beckham has 48 catches for 699 yards in eight games. Beckham leads all five wide receivers selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft in receptions per game (6.0) and yards receiving per game (87.4). Jeremy Shockey holds the Giants franchise records for receptions by a rookie (74) and yards receiving by a rookie (894). With four games to go, Beckham appears to have a good chance to at least break the yardage record.
