EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants safety Stevie Brown is out for the remainder of today's game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles after suffering a foot sprain. That means Brown's 2014 season is over.
Brown was injured when he intercepted a deep pass by Mark Sanchez. The play was nullified on a questionable pass interference call on Chykie Brown. More important than the play, though, was the injury to Brown.
The 27-year-old safety missed all of last season with a torn left ACL. When he was dragged off the field unable to use his left leg there was obvious reason to fear another left knee injury. Thus, a foot injury is actually good news. Brown played in all 16 games this season, starting eight. He regained his job after an early-season benching.
The Giants also lost rookie safety Nat Berhe to a knee injury early in the first quarter. Berhe is also out..
