The story should be Odell Beckham breaking Jeremy Shockey's record for most receptions by a rookie in New York Giants' history.
It isn't.
The story very quickly became all hell breaking loose in an already chippy game when Alec Ogletree tackled Odell Beckham way out of bounds on a quick screen pass, then hit his face mask before getting up.
The result was a complete melee between the Giants and Rams.
The referees threw every flag they had, and then conferred for quite some time before deciding on who to penalize and exactly what would happen.
The result was a whole lot of offsetting penalties.
Ultimately, the Giants were hit with a 15-yard personal foul, along with ejections to defensive end Damontre Moore and wide receiver Preston Parker for unnecessary roughness.
The Rams had linebacker Alec Ogletree called for unnecessary roughness defensive end Williams Hayes ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct
The referees have been making their presence felt this game. Tom Coughlin can not be happy about how his team has taken the Rams' baiting. It will also be interesting to see how the loss of Parker and Moore affect the Giants as the game wears on.
Why wasn't Ogletree ejected in the #NYGvsSTL brawl? What started it? Here are my thoughts via @kfc: https://t.co/sJf1CjucOW
