The New York Giants have won two straight games against admittedly awful teams, after of course losing to another awful team. The victories further the idea that the Giants, with several young players in key roles, could be pointed in the right direction. Not that it means anything, but the back-to-back wins also have the Giants moving up in Week 16 NFL Power Rankings.
SB Nation has the Giants ranked No. 23, up from No. 26 a week ago.
The Washington Post follows suit, also bumping the Giants from No. 26 to No. 23.
Yahoo Sports Shutdown Corner has the Giants at No. 24.
Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has Big Blue all the way up at No. 19.
Those rankings, of course, are completely meaningless. Have the Giants really improved the past two weeks. Well, perhaps we will get an answer in the season's final two games.
Good teams have been the Giants' Kryptonite this season. They are 0-8 against teams with winning records.
This week's opponent, the St. Louis Rams, do not have a winning record. They are 6-8, but are a young, up-and-coming team that will provide a good measuring stick for the Giants, especially with the game being on the road.
The Giants' season finale, a home game against the Philadelphia Eagles, will be another excellent measuring stick. It should also be a lot of fun, since it is a game the Eagles will almost certainly have to win to have a shot at making the playoffs.
