Oddsmakers offer little hope for Giants vs. Seahawks

Not surprisingly, the New York Giants will be a heavy underdog Sunday when they travel across the country to face the Seattle Seahawks. Depending upon which line you choose, the Giants open as anywhere from a 7.5 to 10.5-point underdog.

Who can blame odds makers for showing no faith in the 3-5 Giants? The Giants have lost three straight and have been embarrassed in two of those games. The Giants have face five teams with winning records this season, losing all five times. Three of those games, against the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts, have been blowouts. In those five losses the Giants have been outscored by a total of 158-73.

The Seahawks have not played like the juggernaut they were when they won the Super Bowl a year ago. They traded Percy Harvin to the Jets and there have been reports that there may be a divide in the Seattle locker room. Still, the Seahawks are 5-3 and will have the advantage Sunday of being home at CenturyLink Field, perhaps the toughest place in the NFL for a visiting team to play.

Let's see. Short week. Cross-country travel. Facing a team better than they are. Riding a three-game losing streak. No consistent offense. An unpredictable defense. It's a wonder the Giants, playing the way they are now, aren't an even bigger underdog.
