EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants wasted a fantastic effort by rookie Odell Beckham Jr. Despite a 10-catch, 146-yard, two-touchdown night that included an amazing 43-yard touchdown grab, the Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night, 31-24. The 3-8 Giants have now lost six straight games.
The Giants also wasted a brilliant drive that could have won them the game. They took a 28-24 lead with 3:00 to go when Eli Manning hit Adrien Robinson (yes, Adrien Robinson!) with a 1-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal. That capped a 14-play, 93-yard drive that took 6:12. The Giants had tried two running plays from inside the 2-yard line with no success before Manning, off play action, rolled right and hit a wide open Robinson for the score.
Dallas (8-3) answered by going 80 yards in seven plays for the game-winning score. The winner came when Tony Romo, with no pressure from the Giants, waited, waited and waited some more, then found Dez Bryant for a 13-yard score with 1:01 remaining in the game.
The Giants had one final chance but lost the ball on downs with 23 seconds remaining. They had been awarded a first down on a four-and-two pass to Rashad Jennings, but review overturned the first down and gave the ball to Dallas, ending the game.
The Giants are now eliminated from NFC East contention.
First Half
The Giants led, 21-10, at the half. Beckham was spectacular, with eight catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns, including his spectacular 43-yard grab. Manning was 14-of-16 for 191 yards at the half. Andre Williams also had a 4-yard touchdown run.
What's Next
The Giants go on the road next Sunday to face the 1-10 Jacksonville Jaguars. That game is a 1 p.m. ET start.
