Eli Manning won't have to worry about Charles Brown jeopardizing his health again. The New York Giants waived Brown, who was atrocious last Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers while replacing an injured Justin Pugh. Linebacker Justin Anderson has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad to take Brown's place.
Anderson was signed from the practice squad to the Giants' active roster a week ago, then waived to make room for Geoff Schwartz when the Giants activated Schwartz from short-term IR. Anderson was re-signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers.
Brown, formerly with the New Orleans Saints, had been signed as a swing tackle. His first regular-season action came last Sunday. Brown earned a -6.4 Pro Football Focus grade and head coach Tom Coughlin said "not very well" when asked how Brown had done." Brown allowed a sack, seven quarterback pressures and committed a penalty. Coughlin's "you're gonna get the quarterback killed" sideline rant vs. the 49ers had to be mostly directed at Brown.
Schwartz is expected to take Pugh's spot at right tackle Sunday.
