Maybe the NFC East isn't completely out of reach for the 3-4 New York Giants. The 6-2 Dallas Cowboys will be without Tony Romo Sunday when they face the 6-1 Arizona Cardinals. The 5-2 Philadelphia Eagles are on the road to face the 4-4 Houston Texans. Losses today by both teams and win Monday by the Giants over the Indianapolis Colts and the division race would tighten considerably. Here is your Week 9 NFL schedule, TV guide and rootability index.
Games You Need To Care About
Arizona Cardinals (6-1) at Dallas Cowboys (6-2) -- Can the Cardinals help the Giants out for a second week in a row? They knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles a week ago. Can they do the same to the Cowboys, which would be a second straight loss for the Jones boys? You sure have to hope so if you are a Giants fan. Brandon Weeden will start at quarterback for Dallas. (1 p.m. ET/FOX)
Philadelphia Eagles (5-2) at Houston Texans (4-4) -- Go Texans! Imagine how much brighter the picture would look for the Giants when they take the field Monday night if both the Cowboys and Eagles lose on Sunday. The Giants would enter play just one game back in the loss column. Losses by Philly and Dallas combined with a win by the Giants puts Big Blue back within striking distance. Hey, you can dream a little. (1 p.m./FOX)
Washington Redskins (3-5) at Minnesota Vikings (3-5) -- Monday's victory over the Cowboys was helpful to the Giants, but it also re-energized the Redskins and made them a team the Giants have to watch out for. Washington gets another boost Sunday with the return of Robert Griffin III. Gotta hope for some help this week from Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings. (1 p.m./FOX)
St. Louis Rams (2-5) at San Francisco 49ers (4-3) -- The 49ers are behind the Cardinals in the NFC West and that puts them in the wild-card picture. Hope that the Rams can go on the road here and do the Giants a favor by pulling off the upset. (4:05 p.m./FOX)
Denver Broncos (6-1) at New England Patriots (6-2) -- Who cares who wins? This is Manning vs. Brady. That makes it must-watch TV. (4:25 p.m./CBS)
