Last Thursday night's game between Cleveland and Cincinnati was a tough one to overcome if you had any exposure to the players involved. Jeremy Hill was benched for a fluky fumble and Andy Dalton's struggles killed Mohamed Sanu and A. J. Green. This week's game will be a little easier to fade (stay away from) then last week's game, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play Thursday night start lineups.
QB - Ryan Tannehill (7900) Tannehill's running ways were finally stopped against a tough Detroit defense last week. This week he gets Buffalo which has been pretty stout all year. Instead of playing Tannehill this week I would pay a few dollars more for Ben Roethlisberger or go a little lower for Mark Sanchez or Teddy Bridgewater.
RB - Lamar Miller (6900) Miller had been very steady all year, but the shoulder injury and the Buffalo D has me looking elsewhere for better plays. Mark Ingram for 8000 is a nice safe play on FanDuel and I would even give another shot to Jeremy Hill in the same game as he is only priced at 6500.
WR - Mike Wallace (6900) Wallace has been okay for most of the season. He hasn't topped 81 yards in a game, never mind 100. The projected points in this game don't support taking a chance on Wallace. Right around the same price you can get Martavis Bryant (7000) or Brandon LaFell (6900).
WR - Jarvis Landry (5700) Landry has taken over the slot receiver role in Miami and has looked good doing it. The only problem is this isn't a great match up for him or the Dolphins and there is a better rookie receiver priced lower than him in Jordan Matthews (5500).
TE - Charles Clay (5600) Clay has struggled with a knee injury for most of the year. The last two weeks Clay has been usable in DFS, but it's hard to not spend the money on the big guys like Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. If you are going to go cheap Larry Donnell and Jordan Reed are even cheaper with similar upside.
K - Caleb Sturgis (5400) Sturgis has been pretty steady the last few weeks as the Dolphins have sputtered out in the Red Zone. This week he's the highest priced kicker on FanDuel and I can't see affording him.
D/ST - (5300) Miami's D has been a top notch D in fantasy this year and wouldn't be a bad play even at 5300. The defenses are literally the only players I would use in Thursday start contests, with Miami being the better play.
QB - Kyle Orton (7700) Kyle Orton won a lot of money for people when he faced the Jets and has been steady while he's been the starter, but his price has risen. The match-up and his price have me looking elsewhere.
RB - Fred Jackson (6500) Jackson is still not 100 percent coming off of his groin injury and he has a tough match-up this week. Once again I'm looking elsewhere. The fact that Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon will be involved also lowers his ceiling.
WR - Sammy Watkins (7800) Normally I would be looking to use Sammy Watkins, but this week he gets Brent Grimes and the Miami defense. Big red flags here. I would rather look at Mike Evans at 7500 or Odell Beckham Jr. at 7400.
WR - Robert Woods (6200) Woods is a nice number two wide receiver, but his price and match-up aren't worth gambling on.
TE - Scott Chandler (5000) Chandler hasn't been near as god this year as he's been in past seasons. His fumbling of a potential touchdown, oddly enough on a Bryce Brown fumble into the endzone, was the nail in the coffin for me. I would rather take a chance on Heath Miller for 100 more.
K - Dan Carpenter (4900) Carpenter hasn't been as good a source of fantasy points as he was last year. The Bills have scored more touchdowns and taken less chances on long field goals. I would rather play Adam Vinatieri for the same price.
D/ST - (5000) The Bills defense has been really good this year. They take the ball away and sack the quarterback, but in this game I would rather have Miami than Buffalo. If I didn't have the 300 to get Miami I would settle for Buffalo.
